Nigeria Customs Service have secured the men's title in the 2026 Comptroller-General of Customs Volleyball Premier League, according to Punch's October 30 report. Their championship was settled with a match still available, giving the closing fixtures a different meaning for the winners and for clubs still trying to improve their positions.
The decisive result was a straight-sets victory over Sunshine Spikers on Day 13. Customs reached 72 points after 24 victories. That combination matters more than a single emphatic score: the title reflects repeated success across the campaign, rather than a trophy awarded solely for winning one final against Sunshine.
The next day's results showed different routes to victory. Kano Pillars also beat Sunshine in three sets, beginning with a demanding 30-28 opener. Nigeria Correctional Service recovered from losing the opening set to beat UCEM 3-1. One team protected an early advantage; the other had to reverse the direction of its match.
In the women's competition, CNS Spikers beat Olalomi Royal Angels in straight sets, while Excelsior defeated NAF Rockets by the same match margin. Punch's latest available standings placed Customs on 68 points, three ahead of COAS Spikers. Those figures described an open race, so the men's championship must not be treated as confirmation of a women's double.
The contrast is a useful guide to reading volleyball results. A 3-0 score identifies the number of sets won but hides how close individual sets were. Pillars' extended opener illustrates why a straight-sets result can still contain an important period of pressure before the eventual winner gains clearer control.
For the remaining programme, the main distinction is between a title already secured and positions still being contested. Customs' men's campaign can be assessed through its sustained winning return. The women's outcome requires its own completed results and final standings; an earlier points advantage alone cannot settle the eventual destination of that trophy.
