The Federal Civil Service Commission has announced the oral-interview stage of its 2026 directorate promotion exercise. Its October 28 notice concerns shortlisted officers seeking promotion from Salary Grade Level 16 to Grade Level 17, following the computer-based examination stage.

The commission says interviews are scheduled for November 11 to 20. Candidates are identified by examination number on its official website, while the attached timetable determines their attendance. The invitation therefore applies to the published shortlist, not automatically to every officer who sat the examination.

The notice directs candidates to assemble at Eagle Square in Abuja at 7:30 a.m. on their assigned day for transport to the interview venue. Officers should use the commission’s circular and timetable when arranging travel, because the reporting location and interview location are different.

Permanent secretaries and other agency heads were asked to circulate the instructions to affected staff. The direction expressly includes officers serving away from headquarters or outside Nigeria, making internal communication important for candidates who may not see an office noticeboard.

An interview invitation is one step in a promotion process. It does not announce the final selection, a new appointment or the effective date of a higher salary. Keeping those stages separate helps avoid mistaken expectations among staff and their departments.

The next authoritative documents will be any commission clarification and the eventual outcome of the exercise. Applicants can check their examination number and assigned date against the original official material. This report records the published arrangements; it does not replace individual instructions from the commission.
