Cool FM announced the Cool FM Music Awards, or COMA, on October 30, setting out a new recognition programme for Nigerian music and the people working around it. The station's official announcement corroborates the launch information published by Pulse. Its stated scope includes performers and creative contributors whose work may be less visible than the artist's name.

The programme lists 17 award categories plus the Cool FM Icon Award. Its four organising areas cover music, visual creativity, fashion and style, and cultural influence. This structure places production, presentation and audience impact alongside songs, reflecting how a music release reaches the public through several forms of work.

Eligible material must have been released between December 1, 2025 and October 31, 2026. Organisers say there are no submission forms or entry fees. Instead, potential nominees will be identified through information including streams, radio play, DJ rotation, social engagement and editorial assessment, before a panel decides the final nominations.

Winners are intended to emerge from a weighted combination of judging, online public votes and on-air audience participation. The category-specific weights have not yet been published in the announcement. That detail matters because the same number of audience votes can have different effects under different rules.

The announced timetable puts the judging-panel reveal on October 31, with nominees and voting following in November. Results are scheduled for a digital announcement on December 4. These dates describe the planned sequence, so a category list should not be mistaken for a list of nominees or winners.

COMA's immediate significance is its proposed recognition of work across the music business. The next documents to examine are the panel, nominations and published weighting rules. Together they will show how the broad launch ambition is turned into decisions that artists, creative professionals and listeners can understand.
